Course objectives

In consistency with the educational purposes of the whole teaching course, aim of the teaching unit is to give students knowledge and comprehension skills in the field of ARCHEOLOGY AND CULTURE OF THE ADVANCED PALEOLITHIC IA that complete and/or reinforce those acquired in the first grade of studies. Moreover, it will make the students able to approach orginal themes in a research context, making more complex judgments, communicating knowledge and its process, and studying the subject in an independent and self-educational way. Students will acquire advanced knowledge of recent developments in Palaeolithic archaeology, with a focus on food procurement strategies, including the development of hunting weapons.

Course program
The course aims to delve deeper into the topics covered in the basic course. Students who have not attended the basic course will have the opportunity to recover the main concepts. All the key issues of the subject will be addressed, first with a theoretical approach and then with examples of archaeological case studies. Part of the course will be an in-depth seminar assigned to students, with oral presentations and a final written text in the form of an article. The theme of the 2024-2025 seminar will be human diversity, in terms of gender, social status, age, physical appearance and disability.
Prerequisites
There are no specific prerequisites. For those who have not attended the basic course, compensation is provided.

Attendance is mandatory. If unable, contact the professor.
Exam mode
The ability to acquire knowledge, commitment to attendance, critical thinking, group work, and the quality of the collaborative text delivered at the end of the course will be evaluated.
