Program - Frequency - Exams

Course program
The professionalizing didactic activity lessons will be organized in groups of 15-20 students. A first part of the lesson (30 min) will be dedicated to examining the general concepts on the Biological sample General. A second part (1 hour) will focus on: Collection and management of samples for the protection of the operator and for the well-being of the patient: 1. Peripheral blood 2. Urine 3. Faeces 4. Bronchoalveolar-trancheobronchial lavage 5. Joint fluids 6. Swabs (ear, skin, conjunctival, nasal, vaginal) 7. Seminal fluid 8. Cephalo-spinal fluid 9. Cytological samples of various organs 10. Histological samples of various organs. Chronobiological rhythms. Sample types: whole blood, serum or plasma. Anticoagulants. Identification of the tubes. Cell isolation from blood. Storage and transport of biological samples. A third part (30 min) During the exercise, students can participate / assist, always under the supervision of the teacher in charge, in the collection / processing of peripheral blood. Standardization of sampling and operating instructions for the use of dpi.
Prerequisites
The student who accesses the BASIC MEDICAL SCIENTIFIC METHODOLOGY course must acquire the preparatory notions of Biology, Biochemistry, Anatomy and Histology. Furthermore, the student must also have acquired a good study methodology and adequate self-assessment skills.

Teaching mode
Lessons will be held in person (distance if required by safety protocols) and will be aimed at deepening the topics of the course, preferring the clinical-diagnostic aspect. The method of exposure and discussion will facilitate the active participation of students also through a more direct relationship between teacher and learner.

The student will have 30 minutes to answer the 32 multiple choice questions (one correct answer). The modality will be communicated by the teacher during the lesson.
