The course of Development Anthropology aims at giving students the basic knowledge to understand the problems on which anthropological reflection has historically focused, insisting particularly on the core themes studied by Anthropology, on its methodologies and on the main theoretical and methodological currents that have influenced its development.
We will then focus on the theme of the relationship between Anthropology and Development.
The programme will be structured as follows:
- THEORETICAL FOUNDATIONS OF THE ANTHROPOLOGICAL DISCIPLINE
In this part of the program, we will focus on the history of the development of Anthropology, from its birth, to its evolution and transformation.
B. THE METHODS OF ANTHROPOLOGY: ETHNOGRAPHY AND FIELD RESEARCH
In this part of the course students will be introduced to the study of the methods and techniques of anthropological investigation: fieldwork, participant observation, qualitative techniques of anthropological investigation and the research tools used.
C. ANTHROPOLOGY AND DEVELOPMENT: THEORIES AND PRACTICES OF DEVELOPMENT ANTHROPOLOGY
This part of the course will examine some relevant theoretical issues related to the Development Anthropology.
