1. The Study of Development
The main theoretical approaches to the study of development: the behaviorist approach, the organismic approach, and the psychoanalytic approach.
The ecology of development: individual differences in development and the influence of the social context on individual differences in development.
Research methods in developmental psychology: the experiment, observation, interviews, and questionnaires.
2. Physical and Motor Development
Prenatal development: the embryonic period, the fetal period, and any risk factors that may arise during pregnancy.
Birth and the newborn: the newborn's competencies.
Motor development: main developmental milestones for posture, locomotion, and manipulation.
3. Perceptual Development Perception and Sensation.
