ECONOMICS AND POLITICS OF PUBLIC PROCUREMENTS AND CONTRACTS
Course objectives
The course aims to provide the fundamentals aspects on procurement and public contracts even through the study of practical cases. Particular attention will be dedicated mainly to the economic analysis of markets in order to provide the basic tools for the economic analysis of competitive dynamics, with particular reference to the problems related to the design of competitive bids and the collusive conducts of the participants. The course aims to provide, thus, an overview of the most important aspects of public procurement, integrating regulatory aspects and issues with tools and models proper of the economic theory

Prerequisites
Good knowledge of basic Microeconomics and Macroeconomics.

Additional teaching materials will be provided during the course.
Students attending the course will be required to prepare a short paper on a topic of their choice, which will be presented in a student-led seminar.

Exam mode
The final exam takes place with a written test and an oral test. The written test is divided into 2 open-ended questions. The time available is 40 minutes. The oral exam usually takes place on the same day as the written exam.
Lesson mode
Textbook and lectures supplemented by the development of a short academic essay and collective discussions in class.
