Course program
The course is composed of a 84 hrs course by the Professor. The course, held by the Professor in the first and second semester, deals with basic elements of narratology applied to Dutch literary texts of the twentieth century. In detail: 12 hrs general introduction to period and literary genre of the works; 12 hrs introduction to basic elements of narratological analysis; 40 hrs in-depth analysis of some literary works; 20 hrs exercises in reading and commenting pages from the original texts.
Prerequisites
Having passed the Lingua e letteratura nederlandese II (Dutch language and literature II) exams.

Teaching mode
The lessons of the course held by the Professor in the first semester include traditional lessons, analysis of texts in the classroom, vision and analysis of film works, and possibly lectures held by other academics. The lessons held by the Dutch language teacher in the two semesters include traditional lessons, writing, oral production and listening. The students can also practice, after being directed by the teacher, with the help of material uploaded on the e-learning platform.
Frequency
Attendance is not mandatory.
Exam mode
At the end of the courses imparted by the Professor and by the Dutch language lecturer the students are required to take both an oral exam and a written test. In the oral exam they have to answer questions and discuss subjects treated by the Professor in her course and contained in the reading list. The written test deals with the language abilities developed and consists in: dictation exercise, fill in or multiple choice questions, translation. The results of the two tests merge in the final mark. To pass the exam the mark has to reach 18/30. the student has to show he/she has reached a sufficient knowledge of the subjects treated by the Professor in her course and in the reading list, a basic knowledge of the subjects treated by the Dutch lecturer in his lessons and to be able to answer correctly at least at 50% of the questions contained in the written test. To obtain a full mark (30/30 e lode), the student has to prove his/her excellent knowledge of all the subjects treated in the courses, and his/her ability to establish coherent and logic connections between them.
