Czech and Slovak literature III

Course objectives

The course focuses on peculiar problems of Czech and Slovak language and literature in the XXth century, following a historical and cultural line, as it can be deduced studying literary texts and essays (the specific program is never repeated). Czech and Slovak literary texts are commented during the lessons. During the whole school year a Czech and a Slovak native teacher provide language exercise (B2 level).

Course program
The course deals with special matters in Czech and Slovak literature. Modern and contemporary narrative, poetic and critical works are commented; reading, critical analysis and translation both of literary texts and the press are exercised.
Prerequisites
B1 level of Czech or Slovak; knowledge of the history of Czech and Slovak languages and literature from the Middle Age to the present.

Teaching mode
The course takes place during the whole school year. It consist of lessons and seminars. Students participate in seminar with presentations and translations. The shall write a paper in order to exercise specific terminology and the rules critical writing.
Frequency
In person teaching.
Exam mode
An oral exam (about 30 minutes) will be taken at the end of the classes. A paper of about 3 pages is requested at least 2 weeks before the date of the exam. Students not attending classes are invited to ask for a separate list of texts.
