Profile:
Archaeologist and historian specialized in the cultural heritage of Western Asia and the Mediterranean.
Functions:

  • Plans, develops, and conducts initiatives in the regions of the Near and Middle East and Africa for the study, protection, and enhancement of tangible and intangible cultural heritage (including for the purposes of sustainable tourism);
  • Interprets material and immaterial cultural evidence, connecting it to its relevant chronological and historical-cultural context;
  • Plans and oversees activities for the monitoring and safeguarding of endangered cultural heritage, including through the use of remote sensing and digital technologies, as well as inventorying, classification, cataloguing, and conservation of artifacts and historical evidence.
  • Oversees the accessibility and public engagement with archaeological sites, historical landscapes, and museum collections, using both traditional methods and digital technologies for data sharing, as well as multimedia tools for presentation and communication;
  • Collaborates with museums, institutions, and national and international organizations on projects for the enhancement and permanent musealization of cultural heritage, as well as on the organization of permanent or temporary exhibitions;
  • Coordinates and manages specialized editorial projects;
  • Performs managerial and coordination roles in various professional sectors that require specific expertise in the cultural heritage of the region and in sustainable tourism.

Our graduates will therefore be able to take on positions of responsibility in the following areas:
a) the design, management, and coordination of complex activities across multiple sectors requiring cross-disciplinary skills;
b) research activities (PhD programmes, public and private academic and research institutions);
c) editorial and publishing collaborations, as well as with specialized media outlets;
d) national and international cooperation projects;
e) monitoring, safeguarding, and protection of cultural heritage in the Near and Middle East and Africa;
f) enhancement and promotion of cultural heritage, also within the context of sustainable tourism development.
