Models and basic types of healthcare systems in the world. The evolutiont of the health care system in Italy. Principles of health care organization referred to the Italian context.The Essential Levels of Care (basic health care benefit package) and the devolution in Italy. The Healthcare planning and determining priorities in health care. Natural history of diseases. Notion of health and disease. Evaluation of the effectiveness of diagnostic tests: sensitivity, specificity and predictive values. Levels of prevention. Main risk factors. Screening programs. Definition and objectives of epidemiology. Classification of epidemiological studies. Methods and tools of descriptive epidemiology. Disease frequency measures. Methods and tools of analytical epidemiology. The association measures. Bias in epidemiological studies. Elements of descriptive and inferential statistics. Experimental epidemiology. Exam mode
Final evaluation of the learning will consist of a written test. The final evaluation will consist of 4 multiple-choice questions (1pt for each correct answer) and three exercises relating to the evaluation of the efficacy of diagnostic tests, frequency and association measures and the analysis and interpretation of data from analytical and experimental studies (max 4 points per exercise). The total score of the test will be 16 points, which will be added to the test of the module PREVENTION IN HEALTHCARE by Prof. Cattaruzza.
