Course program
The course consists of tho parts. The first part, more theoretical, will address the following topics: 1) classification, clinical presentation, prevalence and etiology of eating disorders; 2) assessment and cognitive and neural correlates; 3) clinical interventions. the second part is practical and will consist of an internship at a clinical service for eating and weight disorders.
Prerequisites
Prerequisites are: critical comprehension of scientific papers written in English; a good level of motivation to learn and work in a group; knowledge of basic topics in health psychology (stress, immune system, sleep regulation), and psychological assessment techniques.

Teaching mode
The course uses multiple didactique tecniques that include: frontal lessons, exercises, observation of assessment and counselling interventions conducted by professional psychologists working in a unit of chronic inflamatory gastric diseses, reflective and self-directed learning.
Frequency
Attendance is mandatory. Only 25% of absences are allowed if equally distributed across all the activities. Presence will be taken by the teacher.
Exam mode
Students will receive a case descroption and will be asked to discuss in small groups before having an oral interview that will address individually the diagnosys, the theoretical bases, medical complication, clinical intervevntion appropriate for the case. The part of the interview dealing with the LABORATORIO DI VALUTAZIONE E COUNSELLING NEI DISTURBI DELL'ALIMENTAZIONE E DEL METABOLISMO will assess the acquisition of competencies and skills dealing with the recognition of psychological processes involved in eating disorders, the identificaiton of the instruments usefull for their assessment, the identificaiton clinical interventions.
