Course program
The program involves constant linguistic analysis of the texts examined, helping students to develop and consolidate the skills/knowledge required by the teaching inputs (reading, listening, multimedia). Particular attention will be paid to the techniques of reading, understanding and translating texts into English relating to the nursing area. The proposed contents will provide the necessary basis for the oral and written understanding of simple texts on nursing, on the Anglo-Saxon healthcare world and on the working areas of the nurse.
GRAMMATICAL area
Verb tenses: Simple Present, Present Continuous; Simple Past (to be, to have, regular and irregular);Modals: can; like + verb
Pronouns: personal (subject/object), possessive, possessive case;
Articles: a, an, the / some, any
Question words: what, where, when, why, how, who, how much / how many.
Adjectives: possessive, qualifiers (physical appearance and personality), comparative/superlative,
demonstratives: this / these – that / those.
Adverbs: adverbs of frequency, intensity
Prepositions: prepositions of time (in, at, on) and prepositions of space (the most common)
LEXICAL area - Acquisition of fundamental vocabulary
Area of SKILLS (communicative, receptive and productive)
• understand simple texts in English on nursing, on the Anglo-Saxon healthcare world and on the working areas of nurses taken from specialized magazines or sector web pages;
• activate reading techniques appropriate to the text presented;
• provide a brief description of yourself and your work environment;
• translate texts from English into Italian and vice versa
